Husband Artsiom Leshchenko (Biathlon): Competed internationally 2006-2011 in the IBU Cup and European Championships. Dual gold medallist in summer biathlon at the 2010 Junior World Championships. His father Vasili was Iryna's personal supervisor and later the women's team national head coach from 2018 to 2020.

Brother Viktar Kryuko (Biathlon): Dual gold medallist at the 2016 Junior European Championships in Pokljuka (individual, sprint). Competed at the IBU Cup since 2013, with a best finish of fifth (2020 Brezno pursuit). Seven World Cup tournaments since 2015.

2017/2018: Infections in wisdom teeth, requiring her to take antibiotics and miss several training sessions. Problems continued throughout the 2018/19 season.

2017/2018: Knee problems. Pain during cycling training was relieved through medical support and with fewer cycling units.

Her family home burned down she was in elementary school and the family had to move into a dormitory, which was located next to the biathlon training base. At age 11, a physical education teacher and former biathlete, introduced her to the coach at the sport school. Began training seriously in 2005. (noc.by, 2021; biathlon.com.ua, 2021)

Winning relay gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. "To be honest, I was relieved. Something great that I had always wished for had finally come true. I could hardly breathe. Thanks to this medal, I'm more relaxed. I am enjoying every race like never before and I no longer take mistakes as seriously. Milestones

Second Belarusian biathlete (alongside relay teammates) to win an Olympic Winter Games gold medal, after winning the relay at PyeongChang 2018 (Darya Domracheva was the first).

Two individual top-20 World Championship finishes in seven championship appearances. Had only three top-30 finishes since her 14th-place in 2017 (individual). Part of the relay team that finished fourth in 2021 (Pokljuka), despite entering the anchor leg in second position.

Four World Cup podium finishes (all second place). Has one individual podium, finishing second at the Annecy mass start in December 2017, behind BRAISAZ Justine Braisaz (FRA). Had 11 top-10 podiums since then.

Finished a career-best 18th overall during the 2013/14 season, including seventh in the individual. Had her only IBU Cup podium the following season at the Beitostolen sprint in November 2014.

Six-time European Championship medallist, with one gold, one silver and four bronze medals. Relay gold medallist in 2014 (Nove Mesto) and pursuit silver medallist in 2019 (Minsk).

Three-time Youth/Junior medallist, with a silver (2009) and bronze (2010) in the youth relay, and junior pursuit bronze in 2012 (Kontilahti).
