He began skiing when he was five on plastic slopes in the Netherlands, before going on winter holidays to Switzerland with his family. He then joined Skiclub Wolfskamer in Huizen, taking lessons. He later advanced to Skiteam Wolfskamer where he began ski racing training. He spent three years training with the German team and is now with Global Racing Ski Team.
