22 December 2019: Meniscus tear when he hit his right knee on a giant slalom gate as he neared the finish line at the Alta Badia World Cup. Had surgery at Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich. Returned to racing a month later. (skiracing.com, 24 Dec 2019)

Milestones

Won gold in the giant slalom at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

In two World Championships appearances (2019, 2021), his best finish being fourth in the downhill.

Six-time Junior World Championships medallist winning five gold, one in 2016 (giant slalom) and four in 2018 (giant slalom, super-G, downhill, Alpine combined). 2016 super-G bronze. The most junior medals ever for a Swiss athlete.

In over 80 World Cup starts, he has 20 podiums, with eight victories. His breakthrough win came in the December 2019 super-G (Beaver Creek).

Opened the 2021/22 World Cup season winning four races by the end of the calendar year, three in giant slalom (Soelden, Val d'Isere, Alta Badia), one in super-G (Beaver Creek), and capturing his first downhill podium (Bormio)

Finished second in the 2021 World Cup overall, giant slalom, and super-G standings.
