Grew up in a sport-oriented family and followed his older brother Mauro into the sport, getting on skis at one-and-a-half years old. "I was fortunate to grow up in a very sporty family and my parents, brother, and sisters have always been very understanding of my athletic ambitions and supported me to the best of their ability. I was exposed to different sports all throughout my childhood and youth. I participated in a gymnastics club, soccer club, and skiing club and was thrilled by all of these sports. In the end, I decided to focus my efforts on ski racing and pursue ambitious goals." (ginocaviezel.ch)
