Growing up near the Panorama ski area in the Canadian Rockies, skiing was a natural progression as a young girl. She started racing when she was 10 but wasn't competitive until she was 13-14 years old. (columbiavalleypioneer.com, 5 Feb 2016)
She enjoyed the sense of community with friends at the ski area. "I love the community of racers and the feeling I get after getting to the bottom of the hill and knowing I had a good run, whether it be in a training run or a race run." (columbiavalleypioneer.com, 5 Feb 2016)
"This year I'll be graduated and my plan is to just be with the Canadian team, start the World Cups and work towards some Olympic year." (The Next Turn Podcast, Apr 2021)
Winning three national collegiate titles at the University of Denver, two in her freshman year in 2018 and one in her senior year in 2021.
"They fit pretty high, not just because they’re individual titles but because you’re part of a team and it matters to your team goal and the whole championship. I definitely didn’t expect it in my freshman year, and we also won the overall title." (The Next Turn Podcast, Apr 2021)
Her parents, both of whom were skiers, instructors and coaches. "They're both amazing skiers. Skiing has been our family sport forever. I had both my parents coaching me my entire life. I just feel like they shaped me into the athlete I've become." (The Next Turn podcast, Apr 2021)
“What I’ve learned is that once you make the second run you can’t doubt yourself any more - yes, you belong there. You have such an opportunity in the second run to move up and you ski your best. It is just that mentality and confidence that you belong in that second run." (The Next Turn Podcast, Apr 2021)
