SURPRISE OLYMPIC DEBUT
As a 19-year-old junior, she was named to a spot on the Canadian team for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games when additional quota spots came available just two days before the Games. "After getting over my initial shock, I packed up my things and left our junior team to join the World Cup team. I had no idea what to expect. I was the young, shy rookie on the team following the girls around wide-eyed and with a sense of deep awe. I considered myself incredibly lucky to be a participant at the Games, and my favourite Olympic memory is still crossing the finish line in 20th place, in front of a hometown crowd." (cbc.ca,13 Feb 2018)

COVID-19
In early 2020, she felt lost, shattered and was going through a time of hardship and tears. As the pandemic began, she didn’t feel strong enough and was concerned about how she would handle things. As the pandemic progressed, she improved. “Piece by piece, I strengthened my heart, stood taller and refused to get pushed down. I fought for myself, made tough decisions and stepped into roles I usually backed away from. I look back on 2020 and think about how it not only taught me HOW to rise, but that I CAN rise and I can endure.” (Instagram, 1 Jan 2021)

CAUSES
Involved in 'Fast and Female; a project designed to keep girls involved in skiing. (warrenmiller.com)

NAME
Her father chose the name 'Erin', but it was her mother, who really wanted a unisex name. She envisioned her name announced at ski races, just as she came over the pitch, skiing so aggressively that the crowd wouldn’t be able to tell if it was a boy or a girl - until they saw her ponytail.
