2016
As a child in a skiing family living in the San Francisco area, skiing was a popular activity when she was young. "Every weekend my parents would load up four kids and two dogs into the car and make the 3.5-hour trip up to Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley)." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
"I loved those weekends - skiing with friends, ripping powder days, drinking hot chocolate. It was more about having fun in the mountains at that stage than getting into racing for me." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
World Cup wins. "I want to inspire my teammates and the next generation of U.S. skiers." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
When she was 13 and in eighth grade, she moved to Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont full time. "I really increased my training volume at BMA and ended up making the National Training Group when I was 15. I skied with the NTG all over the US and Europe for my junior and senior years of high school. I won my first US national title as a 17-year old senior in high school and qualified for the U.S. Ski Team for the next year." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
Her performance at the 2021 World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo, where she was second after the first run of giant slalom and finished 10th. (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
Tennis player Serena Williams (USA), four-time Olympic champion, winner of 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any player in the Open Era. "I admired her tenacity and grit." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
A lot of her motivation has always come from within. "I love the process of training and working to get better at something. It's almost addicting when I can feel myself getting faster. But as I've gotten older, I've been so motivated and inspired by my teammates. Seeing their hard work pay off pushes me to challenge and believe in myself." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
Alpine skier Resi Stiegler (USA), three-time Olympian. "Shout out to Resi Stiegler for showing me how to laugh and enjoy every moment of World Cup skiing." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
"Not really, I just do my warm up and chat with my technician Bart." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
"One of the best parts of ski racing is the people. Thank you to all of athletes, staff, fans, friends and volunteers for making this journey so much fun." (Athlete, 16 Aug 2021)
