She grew up near the ski slopes in Predeal, located in central Romania north of Bucharest. Her first coach was Mihail Olaru (ROU). At the age of five she started skiing with the Predeal School Sports Club. She participated in her first national competitions at the age of 11, then connected with coach Andrei Szilagyi (ROU) and began competing internationally at the age of 15.
