Milestones

Twelve days before he made his debut at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games (where he placed 28th in the giant slalom and did not finish the slalom), he won the 2018 Junior World Championships giant slalom bronze medal becoming only the second Bulgarian to win a medal in the event and the first since 1988.

His four World Championship appearances (2015-21) have produced four top-30 finishes.

In a two-month period from November 2018 to January 2019, he burst onto the World Cup scene with a series of spectacular finishes from the back of the field. He opened his season in Levi, skiing from the 75th start position to finish 20th in slalom earning his first World Cup finish. In December at Madonna di Campiglio, he started 72nd and finished 16th in another slalom. In January, he started 71st in the Kitzbuehel slalom and finished ninth. Three days later he had his best result, starting 46th in the night slalom at Schladming and finished sixth (the first Bulgarian in the top-six in the World Cup since 1985, when Peter Popangelov skied to the same position in Park City (USA)).
