General Interest

CHANGE OF NATION
A longtime ski racer for Great Britain, his change to Ireland was approved by the International Ski Federation in June 2021. His late grandmother was born in Dublin. Lives in Chichester, on England’s south coast but Gower’s late grandmother (maiden name Swayne) was born in Dublin and raised in Skibbereen where she met his grandfather. “He was visiting Cork with the British Navy and when they married they got posted to Chile. That’s where my dad was born but he and all my uncles and aunts spent their summers in Skibbereen.”

Milestones

Competed in two World Championships for Great Britain, finishing 38th in giant slalom (2015 in Beaver Creek) and 41st in downhill (2019 in Are).

Competed in four Junior World Championships (2011, 2013-15) for Great Britain with best finish 10th in giant slalom (Jasna in 2014).

Career best Europa Cup super-G in November 2021 finishing 13th.

Three top-10 FIS race speed events at Tarvisio (ITA) in January 2022 including a second in super-G.
