General Interest

CRYSTAL GLOBES BY MAIL
Her stunning 2019/20 season, winning the overall, Alpine combined and giant slalom Crystal Globes, was anticlimactic as COVID-19 took away the final races and awards ceremonies. The early ending of the season and the lack of closure had a big impact on her emotionally when she received the three Crystal Globes by mail that spring. "It was horrible. They arrived at my parents’ house and I said to them I didn’t want to see them. The next day I took them to my place. I then realized I was missing something. This year (2020/21) I’ve been participating in the ceremony even if there were no fans in the finish area. But then when I saw Petra (Vlhova) and Lara (Gut-Behrami) raising up the globes, I felt really, really bad and I said, ‘now I know what was missing for me.’ It’s a good moment - it’s where you understand what you did, what was your season. During the season you are focused on the next race, trying this and trying that. When you finish everything, you need to pause a little bit and think about it. It’s that moment where you say, ‘OK, I did something really special this year.’” (the next turn podcast, 7 Apr 2021)

SPEED AND WINNING
"Sometimes there are good skiers who don’t have that competitive attitude. They can’t really let the skis make the speed. It’s an attitude you have to build. It’s a confidence and the will to go faster." (the next turn podcast, 7 Apr 2021)

Competed in four Olympic Winter Games (2010-22), winning the giant slalom silver medal and the Alpine combined bronze medal at Beijing 2022. Earned bronze in giant slalom at PyeongChang 2018. She became the fifth Italian Alpine skier to win at least three medals at the Olympic Winter Games.

2011 World Championships giant slalom silver medallist. In five appearances (2011-21), she has two other top-five finishes, including fourth in giant slalom in 2017, right behind her Italian teammate Sofia Goggia in bronze.

2009 Junior World combined champion, and 2010 giant slalom silver medallist (tied with Germany's Lena Dueer, 0.37 seconds from gold).

Since the 2015/16 season, she has won at least one World Cup each season including a December 2021 super-G victory in St. Moritz. In the pandemic-shortened 2019/20 season, she won five World Cups in three different disciplines en route to winning the overall, giant slalom and Alpine combined titles, finishing second in super-G and third in parallel.
