Has remained remarkably free from major injuries. After Italian downhill racer Dominik Paris suffered a knee injury in 2020, he remarked "Now I'm the last one who hasn't got it." (nachrichten.at, 23 Jan 2020)
2010
Grew up on a farm in Gramastetten near Linz. Was introduced to skiing by his father who was a ski instructor in Obertauern. "I have a very close relationship with my parents. They were certainly the main factor that made me where I am now. I would be nowhere without my family. My father taught me to ski, but he always gave me a lot of freedom. I definitely got my driving style from him." (nachrichten.at, 20 Dec 2010; dieoberoesterreicherin.at, 10 May 2021)
"I definitely want to stay healthy and try to get the most out of my career - constantly fighting for victories and medals. That is my goal." (dieoberoesterreicherin.at, 10 May 2021)
Uses many factors for being prepared to win on race day. "In the end, it is important that you have good material and that you are in top form. The most important thing on important racing days, however, is that you are mentally in good shape. Then it's easier to get into the race. I don't have a mental trainer, but of course tricks and personal ticks that help me with this. Everyone approaches this thing differently." (dieoberoesterreicherin.at, 10 May 2021)
He won the downhill and super-G speed in 2021 in Cortina d'Ampezzo, becoming the first man to sweep both events at the World Championships since Bode Miller (USA) in 2005. (nbcsports.com, 14 Feb 2021)
"Before starting, I try to visualize the run and the race. So that there are no surprises waiting for me when it comes to the slopes or course setting, I memorize everything down to the last detail. Here it is important to repeat, repeat and repeat again until it is completely burned in. This is the most important thing for me." (dieoberoesterreicherin.at, 10 May 2021)
