2006 FIS event in Jerzens (Slalom - DNF1)
2012 World Cup in Soelden (Giant slalom - DNQ1)
February 2020: Torn meniscus and cartilage damage to his left knee, suffered during a World Cup parallel slalom race in Chamonix. Had arthroscopic surgery in Austria, and was out for the remainder of the season. It was the fifth major knee injury of his career. (sport.ch, 9 Feb 2020; sn.at, 12 Feb 2020)
February 2018: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee, suffered in the giant slalom at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Underwent surgery (his third on that knee) in Austria and missed the rest of the season. "Immediately after the injury, my attitude was that I definitely wouldn't do that to myself anymore. But now it has turned in a different direction." (tt.com, 7 Mar 2018)
October 2016: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear in his right near after crashing in the first run of the season-opening World Cup in Soelden. Missed the entire 2016/17 season. (Austrian Men's Team Twitter, 23 Oct 2016)

Family influence. "The family is, of course, very, very important for a career. It starts with the school races and the state cup races, the ski clubs work well and that your parents stand behind you is extremely important." (meinbezirk.at, 1 Jul 2021)
His training for the 2021/22 Olympic season is very similar to the past years. "In addition to small ailments, there are fortunately no major injuries this year that need to be compensated for, or strengthened." (bruendl.at, 8 Apr 2021)
A career-first podium, finishing third in the Bansko World Cup giant slalom in 2021, came when his career was at a crossroads, providing him encouragement for the future. (newsbeezer.com, 1 Mar 2021)
“Breakthrough is definitely the right word for this day and this race! In the previous races, the tension was greater than the joy and ability, which finally changed suddenly in Bansko. The pure belief that I will come to the fore is not enough for me. I need it in black and white and luckily the confirmation came in Bansko. You have to work hard for triumph, because nothing comes from nothing and that often pulls my patience. As you can see, it still pays to be patient, keep getting up, and keep fighting." (bruendl.at, 8 Apr 2021)
The ability to understand his strengths and weakness.
"The first great strength is understanding ephemerality - just live in the here and now, and not allow yourself to be influenced too much by what has already happened, be it positive or negative. Not cheering up high and then sad to death again, but to be balanced.
Second, problems can arise anywhere, but I don't allow myself to be influenced and guided too much by them. 'Everyone is the blacksmith of their own fortune,' as the saying goes.
Third, and arguably my greatest strength, is my understanding of the body. My injuries, therefore not only had negative sides, because intensely dealing with yourself and your physical construction sites ensures a good feeling." (bruendl.at, 8 Apr 2021)
