Brother Joachim Puchner (Alpine skiing): 2007 Junior World Championships super-G silver medallist, with three more top-10 finishes in 2006 and 2007. Competed at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and on the World Cup circuit (2009-17) with three podium finishes (one second, two thirds).
Tennis: As a teen, she was ranked in the top-five of her age class in Austria. She ultimately decided to focus on ski racing, but she still competes in tennis at the regional and national level. (Athlete, 21 Aug 2021; mirjam-puchner.at)

February 2017: Fractured the tibia and fibula in her right leg, a year after her debut World Cup downhill win in St. Moritz, when she crashed on the same slope while training for the World Championships. She began skiing at two-and-a-half years old, following her older brother and sister. Before she was three, she took part in the traditional local ski race, the Katschthalercup. As a young girl in St. Johann im Pongau, she split her time between skiing and tennis until she was 14, when she began to focus more on ski racing. (mirjam-puchner.at)
